On 10thMay, at the Great Hall of the Headquarters of AORP – the Portuguese Jewellery and Watchmaking Association in Porto, 30 guests from different industries attended a tea workshop, focusing on the sharing of knowledge that, at the end, became a taste and a moment of camaraderie and appreciation of the legendary tea hour. The guests were around a table where silver, emeralds – the precious stone of May – and jewels were shining. The following day, the Garrett Theatre’s became the chosen location, in Póvoa de Varzim, to have a full capacity for the second edition of the event.

During approximately three hours, Luís Mendonça de Carvalho led the audience through the organoleptic properties of the tea, its differentiation, origin, history and all the rituals associated with its consumption. The silver services that traditionally accompanied this ritual in the European noble courts and houses, since the 17th century, were remembered and gained a new life, being present again in this “afternoon tea”, which recreated it with detail and refinement, as the protocol dictates, in a noble alliance with the innovative concept created by Tavares, Jewellery à Table, already on display, throughout this year at the Maison & Objet Fairs in Paris and Isaloni, in Milan.
