On the first day of the Chinese year of the Tiger (2nd February 2022), I present the Tiger Eye Diamond and, because learning is fascinating, let’s discuss the colour descriptives of the brown diamond. Diamonds of certain colours or hues have been given romantic designations; for example, “Cape” for yellow coloured stones in the 19th century.
In the case of the 61.65 carat Tiger Eye Diamond, the colour is distinctly brown and has been described as the “cognac” diamond, a rather visual, refined and tasteful comparison to the special liqueur from the Cognac region of France.
