Continuing to expand their adventure in architect-designed watches, Lebond revealed their most recent watch with the winner of the 2011 Pritzker Architecture Prize, Eduardo Souta Mouro. The new watch explores the limits of the modernization of a classic watch silhouette.

The Portuguese architectis known for his consistent and highly recognizable style that uses simple lines, resulting in minimalistic creations that transmit a serenity sensation. But, instead of using one of his previous works to inspire the piece, Souto Moura used his characteristic style to reimagine the classic driver watch.

Souto Moura’s idea for the creation of this collaborative watch was that the piece looked and was the thinnest it possibly could. Having the 12 as a reference, the architect designed two versions, “Original and Dark”, roundly and classically, while the dial suffers an intricate twist by being turned at a 30-degree angle.

Thanks to the use of titanium and its modest size, the watch only weighs 46 grams. A pleasant detail is the domed sapphire glass, that adds a touch of drama to the minimalistic design.

The ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement, made in Switzerland, is the heart of the watch. This 21-jewel automatic movement works at a frequency of 28,800vph and offers a power reserve of 50 hours. The movement is visible through the sapphire glass from the bottom of the dial, allowing the movement to be seen in action and to appreciate the blue screws, the Geneva stripes, and the perlage. Besides that, the bottom of the case features Eduardo Souto Moura’s signature. Finally, each case is numbered individually.
