The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) Foundation has announced the appointment of Wei Koh as president of the jury for the 2026 edition. The decision was made public on 18 March in Geneva, highlighting one of the most influential figures in contemporary watchmaking.
Editor, entrepreneur, journalist, and filmmaker, Wei Koh is the founder of Revolution and The Rake magazines and is widely recognised for his technical knowledge, command of brand history, and strategic global vision of the industry.
Reacting to his appointment, the new jury president underlined the importance of watchmaking in his personal and professional journey, stating that it represents the convergence of engineering, craftsmanship, science, and art. Considering the GPHG as the ultimate celebration of this universe, Wei Koh described the invitation as “one of the greatest honours” of his life, while also emphasising the responsibility associated with the role.
The president of the GPHG Foundation, Raymond Loretan, stressed that Wei Koh is “one of the most respected voices in watchmaking today”, highlighting his international experience, independent outlook, and enthusiasm as key factors in the choice.
Nick Foulkes, who chaired the jury from 2021 to 2025, expressed his satisfaction with the succession, praising his successor’s energy, vision, and passion for taking on the role.
The GPHG jury intervenes in the second round of voting, meeting behind closed doors a few days before the ceremony to physically assess around 90 watches previously nominated by the Academy. Voting takes place by secret ballot and under notarial supervision. In parallel, around one thousand members of the Academy vote digitally, contributing one third of the final result.
The complete composition of the 2026 jury will be announced in mid-September. The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 7th at the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices in Geneva.
